Here's the number that really matters..... 400 inches of annual snowfall! The Snow comes early, it snows frequently, and our climate results in snow that tends to be light and fun to ski. With our great snow quality, you're sure to find enjoyable conditions, many epic powder days, and perfectly groomed runs, also referred to as "rippin' roy".

Getting here is easy and fast. You can drive right up to Lookout Pass via Interstate 90 to the Idaho/Montana border, Exit 0. One turn into our parking lot and you’ll be on the snow in as little time as it takes to put on your boots. Where else can you experience the magic of the mountains so convenient to home.

This convenient location has made it easy for thousands of families to enjoy outstanding winter recreation at Lookout Pass since 1935. For over 60 of those years, we’ve provided a nationally recognized Free Ski School for children, which have taught a majority of youngsters in Northern Idaho and Western Montana their skiing skills.

Free Ski School information
Lookout’s nationally recognized, Free Ski School for Kids, ages 6-17 yrs, is offered every Saturday morning from January 9 thru March 13, 2010. Registration is limited to the first 500 participants and sign-ups end on January 23rd! When we say FREE we mean just that. All you need to do is register your child. Beginner sessions start at 10:00 AM. Each youngster must supply their own skis or snowboard. Rental equipment is available. A lift ticket is required after the 1 hour lesson session to continue skiing or boarding.

The Lookout Pass Free Ski School is celebrating it's 70th year and has taught approximately 40,000 kids how to ski and snowboard! The free lesson tradition first started in 1940 and the Saturday school is run by a group of volunteers devoted to teaching kids both the skills and etiquette they will need for a successful lifelong skiing experience.
